Creating New Opportunities Through Sports Analytics

When the worldwide pandemic hit in March 2020, countless students found themselves battling with the uncertainty of the future. As in-person internships were no longer an option, some companies began to offer replacement virtual internships while others cancelled their programs altogether. Many students were left without internships and scrambling to find replacements.

Escaping Finals

Every student is familiar with the standard multiple-choice final exam given at the end of almost every course. While these exams can measure the level of understanding of a student to a certain extent, it is easy to wonder if the material covered will really apply to life after college. Dr. Jeff Jenkins took this problem and created an interactive, hands-on final to prepare students for the future. In Fall 2019, he created an escape room for the final exam of his course.

Professor Mark Keith has found this to be true in his IS 201 classes and in his research. Through their efforts, Keith and a team of researchers proved that confidence is a greater indictor of performance than natural creative ability.
