Creating New Opportunities Through Sports Analytics
When the worldwide pandemic hit in March 2020, countless students found themselves battling with the uncertainty of the future. As in-person internships were no longer an option, some companies began to offer replacement virtual internships while others cancelled their programs altogether. Many students were left without internships and scrambling to find replacements.

Escaping Finals
Every student is familiar with the standard multiple-choice final exam given at the end of almost every course. While these exams can measure the level of understanding of a student to a certain extent, it is easy to wonder if the material covered will really apply to life after college. Dr. Jeff Jenkins took this problem and created an interactive, hands-on final to prepare students for the future. In Fall 2019, he created an escape room for the final exam of his course.

PROVO, Utah – Apr 16, 2019 – Deciding between two summer employment opportunities, especially two great organizations that seemed like a perfect fit, was the root of conflicting emotions for BYU Marriott student Autumn Clark. As Clark traveled to attend the Harvard Business School Dynamic Women in Business Conference this semester, she hoped some resolution to her questions and concerns could be found in consulting with experienced and diversified women. She was not disappointed.

MISM Alumnus Kyle Mathews Helps Gatsby Raise $15 Million in Funding
Ten years after graduating with an MISM degree from BYU, Kyle Mathews (CEO and founder of Gatsby) announced that Gatsby has raised $15 million in Series A funding. This is a huge accomplishment for this open source software company. Their funding was raised by CRV and other investors including Trinity Ventures, Fathom Capital, and Dig Ventures.

IS Team Says Aloha to Best Paper Award
PROVO, Utah – Jan 31, 2018 – Students who develop confidence in their abilities to think creatively have a much higher chance of succeeding in their classes than those who don’t. Professor Mark Keith has found this to be true in his IS 201 classes and in his research. Through their efforts, Keith and a team of researchers proved that confidence is a greater indictor of performance than natural creative ability.
