For BYU Marriott alum Brent Anderson, the Tanner Building houses memories of late night study sessions, meetings with professors, and his first date with his wife, Michelle, at a Divine Comedy performance.

Each week, professors in the BYU Marriott School of Business Department of Information Systems mentor students who come in to pitch their business ideas. In pursuit of the next big thing, these students come to faculty seeking advice to get their projects and businesses started.

Tell us about your name, “Gove.”

Dr. James Gaskin, Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the BYU Marriott School of Business, was a member of one of three winning teams at the 2017 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) inaugural “paper-a-thon”. The conference, held in Seoul, South Korea in December 2017, featured information system professors, students, and professionals from around the world.

Information systems (IS) involves the synthesis of business and technology. Professionals define, develop, and maintain the information system infrastructure that supports the operations of all businesses, governments, and other institutions.
