Information systems (IS) involves the synthesis of business and technology. Professionals define, develop, and maintain the information system infrastructure that supports the operations of all businesses, governments, and other institutions.

History

The BYU Marriott Department of Information Systems was created in 2005 after the School of Accountancy and Information Systems was divided into two departments. The IS department currently houses 14 full-time faculty and over 300 graduate and undergraduate students. The department offers two degrees, a BS in information systems and a master of information systems management (MISM).
