I graduated from the Information Systems Program at BYU 20 years ago. During those 20 years, I have worked at three major organizations (Arthur Andersen, IBM, and ExxonMobil) and have found my experience at BYU as wonderful preparation for the challenges of life, both personally and professionally.
My work has taken me to Singapore, Thailand, India, Turkey, England, Nigeria, and Argentina, thus far. We even lived in Budapest Hungary for a time. My family has been richly blessed because of the education while at university.
Additionally, seeing so much of the world and working across so many cultures has illustrated the value of an education and the need for students from across the globe to have the chance to attend BYU.
This is why I give.
In addition to the principles noted below which came during, or as wind fall from, my education, BYU can be a catalyst for people who would have few other options to attend an institution of this caliber and equip them to be a pioneers throughout life.
I give to provide opportunity to those with limited options, those who with some assistance could attend BYU and be an example in their homeland and lift others.
BYU is a school uniquely designed to lifts others, I give hoping others will be blessed as I have been.
I’d like to share the principles distilled over time that took seed when I was a university student.
- Remember the One and help others; we’re all struggling with something
- Be Gracious and Grateful
- Progress over Perfection
- Make an Impact
- Consume Carefully (Money, Time, Natural Resources, Food)
- Trust. Integrity. Clarity. Agility. Speed. Value.
If you’ve been blessed in your life and BYU was part of that journey, join me in giving back.
