IS INTEX / MISM Capstone Mentors Needed
As we begin a new semester and the college football season, many IS / MISM alumni likely turn their thoughts back to their INTEX and MISM capstone experiences and all of the painful and joyous memories from those experiences. While those memories might be a bit exaggerated or suppressed in our cerebrums, we cannot dispute the impact those experiences had on us and how much we learned from them. Both the INTEX project and the MISM capstone projects continue to improve and demonstrate the strength of the students. One improvement that the IS Advisory Board has suggested is to involve our alumni as mentors to help bring in the industry perspectives to the student teams. In order to do this we need to identify mentors for both INTEX and the MISM capstone projects.
As a mentor, the expectation is you would meet virtually with the student teams periodically during the semester to provide guidance and industry insights concerning the projects. Mentors would not be expected to provide any development or substance to the project deliverables, but rather to help the student teams think through the given issues and student provided solutions, to identify anything the student teams might be overlooking.
If you are interested in participating as a mentor, please contact Ashlyn Lewis (ashlyn_lewis@byu.edu) and identify if you’d prefer to be a mentor for an INTEX or MISM team.
